I'm going to begin this by stating that I am NOT a fan of Monday holidays. It really just throws everything off completely and makes staying on track with things so difficult. With that being said I will say that even with it being a short week things went pretty well over all.
Rotating Chore Chart
Growing up I knew that houses needed to be cleaned because I helped with cleaning the house I lived in. I knew laundry needed to be done because by the time I was old enough to reach the nobs on the machines I was doing my own laundry (for the most part). I knew food needed to be purchased, prepared, consumed, and cleaned up after because well...I ate the food and often helped clean up from it. These are all things I KNEW needed to be done because I lived in a well-lived in house.
Mars Hall Weekly Round-Up
Whew! We made it. Our first full week of school has finally been completed. I always have big dreams and big plans for the first week of school and then by the time Thursday hits I feel like we are lucky to still be alive. (Okay, maybe not that dramatic, but darn well close.) If… Continue reading Mars Hall Weekly Round-Up
Replant Reality: A Replant Pastor Wife’s Perspective Part 1
Welcome! This week I'm starting a new series. I know, I know. I have done "series" before and I didn't get very far with them but this time things just feel a little bit different. All over the place I have been seeing this saying "Do it scared." The principle behind it is if God has placed a passion, desire, dream, vision, you name it in your heart and mind that even if you are terrified of the outcome, the results, the reception it doesn't matter. You just need to do whatever that thing is and do it scared. So here I am. I am terrified to begin sharing these thoughts with the world. But for whatever reason, I feel like now is the time to really dive in the deep end with some of the things I have experienced and continue to experience as we continue on this "church replant" journey we are on. So grab a cup of coffee or tea and join me as we take this deep dive together.
2022-2023 Curriculum Overview: 7th Grade Choices
Last week I shared with you the skills based curriculum we are using for 5th grade so this week I'm going to be rounding it off with what we will be using for 7th grade. I will be 100% honest when I tell you that this 7th grade curriculum is no joke! I never really realized just how much of a jump there was between 6th and 7th grade, especially when it comes to the language arts aspect but gosh its a jump!
2022-2023 Homeschool Curriculum Overview: 5th Grade Choices
This week, I will share what we will be using for our 5th grade "skills based" subjects. Skills based subjects are things such as math, reading, and language arts that have components that have to build upon one another. These are the subjects that have to have some type of understanding of one concept before moving on to the next concept. Skills based subjects are the areas where I will more than likely have each kid doing a different thing simply because they are all at different mastery levels for the various subjects.
2022-2023 Homeschool Curriculum Overview: Family Learning Cycle
One of the best parts of using the My Father's World curriculum is that for the "content based" subjects, things like Bible, History, Science, Music, Art and the like rather than attempting to teach each kid something separate we all do those subjects together as a whole. We all read the same books, do the same activities, and have some wonderful conversations together centered around what we are all hearing, doing, and seeing together. This not only helps my own sanity but it helps to draw us as a family together as we share experiences and make memories together.
2022-2023 Homeschool Curriculum Overview: Kindergarten
August is one of my favorite months of the year because it means that we are back to school. There is something exciting about the new curriculum, the new school supplies, getting back into a solid routine, and the eagerness of learning something we didn't know yet. The other thing I love about August is that it is the ushering of fall, which is my favorite season.
Tis a Season
Does that mean I will be in this season forever? Nope, at any given time this season may shift and change. Our schedules will either open up or become even busier than they already are. Or our priorities may change due to outside circumstances. But because I read in these simple verses that God is the one who sets out the seasons, I know that I don't have to stress or worry about what season is to come. All I have to do is continue to walk day by day in faith and know that since God has placed me in this season he will see me through to the other side of it as well.
The Importance of Titus 2 Relationships
Titus is chalk full of valuable information for believers, but for women in particular, there are three small verses tucked away in the middle of the book that really just speak to the way that women are to relate to each other.
