Weekly Wrap-Up

Happy Saturday! I have always found the week after Thanksgiving one of the harder one. Truth be told I have always felt like holidays stuck in the middle of the week shouldn’t be allowed. It just throws off the whole flow of the week. This week was what I often call “re-entry” week where we are just working on getting back into our groove and routine again after the holiday.

One of the things I love about this season is that I get a chance to revisit some of my favorite thing that we have been up to this week:

Christmas Cookies

This week I got started on baking Christmas cookies. I made several batches for traditional sugar cookies, brown sugar shortbread, oatmeal scotchies, and peppery molassas cookies. The sugar cookies and the oatmeal scotchies are for a cookie tasting competition on Sunday. We will see how they go.

Kitchen Hacks

I was scrolling Facebook the other day and I saw a post that had a kitchen hack that claimed to help with watery eyes when cutting onions. I will be honest when I say I thought that it was nuts. However, the other night when I was prepping dinner I decided I would try it out. GUESS WHAT! It worked. So what is the hack I am talking about?

It is this: Inhale On Guard (an essential oil by DoTerra Oils) prior to and while slicing the onions. There is something in the blend of oils that counteracts the enzyme that causes the watery eyes. I will never slice onions without having my bottle of On Guard near me ever again!

New Favorite Beauty Product

Anyone that knows me knows I am not necessarily the “girliest” girl in the world. I have always considered myself to be a “sorta tomboy”. Don’t get me wrong, I like nice things. I like to look nice. However, I am not always good at it. I don’t have a lot of time to hone my makeup or hair techniques and when it comes to cloths I often go for comfort over fashion or style. Another area I have always lacked in is my nails. Truth be told I have had a bad habit of biting my nails. A while back I was introduced to Jamberry nail wraps and I love them. I just don’t always have time to go through the long process of putting them on.

Enter Color Street. These are nail polish stickers that in my opinion are very similar in style and functionality to the Jamberry nail wraps. The difference is these don’t need the heat to apply so it only takes a few minutes to get them on. I also found a pattern that I am IN LOVE with.

Bittersweet events

This weekend marked the end of the semester at the seminary I attended. That means that graduation happened on Friday. Several of the friends that made and then left behind walked across the stage and received their diplomas. I had made a lot of plans to try and attend that event so I could be there to support and celebrate the people who where there to support and celebrate me when I walked across that stage a year ago. Unfortunately, due to finances and time that just wasn’t something in the cards this time. On the bright side, the seminary live streams the graduation ceremony online so I was still able to see my friends who have become family reach this goal. I was sad I could not be there in person but I was pleased I could still help celebrate in some way.

So those are the things that have caught my eye this week.

What is something that caught your eye this week? Let me know in the comments?

Join me tomorrow for Blogmas day 8!
