Welcome to Blogmas Day 2 here at A Wise Woman in Progress. Today’s post is all about me. Geeze that makes me sound super into myself doesn’t it? I try hard to be more general when I write on here because, well, I just don’t find me to be all that interesting. BUT when I came across this little Christmas Tag I thought it sounded fun. So here it is.
1. WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE CHRISTMAS MOVIE/S?
Sheesh, way to start out with a hard one. I think I would have to say my very favorite Christmas movie is “Miracle on 34th Street.” But it has to be the original one. No remakes for me. I also absolutely LOVE “How the Grinch Stole Christmas” and “A Charlie Brown Christmas” I’m way into what most people would call the classics. However, when I’m looking for the newer movies you can never go wrong with Elf.
2. DO YOU OPEN YOUR PRESENTS ON CHRISTMAS EVE OR CHRISTMAS MORNING?
We usually open one gift on Christmas Eve to pacify the little ones. I try to make sure that one is usually a new Christmas movie or new Christmas PJ’s. Then we will open the rest on Christmas morning. When I was a kid we would open gifts at our house early Christmas morning, get dressed and drive the half out to our grandparents house, eat breakfast, and THEN we got to open the gifts at their house.
3. HAVE YOU EVER HAD A WHITE CHRISTMAS?
Yep, I sure have. In fact I have had quite a few White Christmas’ in my life. While I don’t mind looking at the snow I am not a fan of it so for the 7 years we lived in Fort Worth where we rarely had even a dusting of snow I was pretty happy. Now that we are back in Southern New Mexico who knows what will happen.
4. WHAT MADE YOU REALIZE THE TRUTH ABOUT SANTA?
The truth? You can’t handle the truth? (Ok..that was silly. I apologize) I think in some way I have kinda always known but I really got the picture I caught my cousin red handed acting as “Santa” and putting things under the tree after all the rest of us kids had gone to bed. I also remember hearing my parents talking in less than quiet voices as they wrapped all the gifts on Christmas Eve after putting us to bed as well.
5. CAN YOU NAME ALL OF SANTA’S REINDEER?
Dasher, Dancer, Prancer, Vixen, Comet, Cupid, Donner, Blitzen
Oh! And Rudolf of course! You can’t forget him!
6. WHAT IS YOUR ALL-TIME FAVORITE HOLIDAY FOOD/SWEET TREAT?
I LOVE gingerbread cookies. I have always loved making them as much as I love eating them. Beside that I would have to say my favorites are my mom and grandma’s homemade fudge and my mom’s homemade divinity. Can you tell I have a bit of a sweet tooth.
7. BE HONEST: DO YOU LIKE GIVING GIFTS OR RECEIVING GIFTS BETTER?
Giving. I love giving the gifts. It is always fun to me to see peoples faces light up when they open up the thing they have wanted the most. It brings joy to my heart. 🙂
8. WHAT WOULD BE YOUR DREAM PLACE TO VISIT FOR THE HOLIDAY SEASON?
I think it would be SOO COOL to visit the ‘Wizarding World of Harry Potter’ in Orlando, Florida during Christmas. I love the Harry Potter stories and the way Christmas is described in the books, then brought to life in the movies makes me want to have the opportunity to experience something like it myself. I would also like to do Disney World/Land at Christmas some time. As much as I hate crowds I might could brave it for those two places.
9. WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE CHRISTMAS SONG?
My favorite Christmas song is “Mary Did You Know”. I have always loved the song and my dad and I used to sing it together pretty well. Then when I became a mom for the first time it really hit home for me.
.
10. DO YOU MAKE NEW YEARS RESOLUTIONS? DO YOU STICK TO THEM?
I don’t like the idea of “New Years Resolutions.” There is just something about them that seem to set people up for failure. So instead I take time to set goals for the year. These goals are designed to help me focus my energies for the year.
11. FAVORITE CHRISTMAS SCENT?
Cinnamon and clove. I absolutely love the smell of cinnamon and clove. There is just something about that smell that screams THE HOLIDAYS to me. I try to have it going in my home as long as I can.
12. AS A KID WHAT WAS THE ONE (CRAZY, WILD, EXTRAVAGANT) GIFT YOU ALWAYS ASKED FOR BUT NEVER RECEIVED?
13. WHAT’S THE BEST PART ABOUT CHRISTMAS FOR YOU?
The best part of Christmas for me is the time to slow down, spend time with family and friends, reflect on the things that happened during the year and plan for the year ahead. Oh! And twinkle lights. Who doesn’t love twinkle lights?
There you have it. My Christmas Tag. Take some time to answer the questions in the comments and let me know what you think of the holiday season!
See you tomorrow!
