I have a confession. I spend way more time scrolling through Pinterest searching for new recipes I will never make, new projects I will never attempt, and generally dreaming of a hypothetical world where I have all the time, energy, and ability to complete the hundreds of things I have “pinned” on my 100 and something boards.
Saturday morning after I had finished up teaching my last VIPKid class for the day I found myself, yet again, scrolling through the rabbit hole that is Pinterest and I came across a post titled “50+ Post Ideas for Blogmas” and I was curious. What the heck is a blogmas? So naturally, I clicked on it. And I discovered a fun little challenge.
So what is Blogmas?
From what I can tell “Blogmas” is the challenge to post something new each day of December with the general focus being on the winter/holiday season. Hince the reason that many of the post ideas were centered around gift-giving, holiday decor, holiday meals, and goals for the holiday season.
I will be honest, yet again, I have a hard time with the consistency thing. If you have hung around for any extended period of time you will know that about me. However, the idea of having a more of a dedicated theme might help me to be more focused and consistent. So here I am. Jumping on the Blogmas bandwagon for December 2019.
How It Works
Blogmas is fairly straight forward. For 25 days-December 1-December 25-I will have a new post up. Most of them will be centered around the holidays and the end of the year. Some of them will be more of a general winter theme. And then there will be one or two that are posts I have wanted to get out but have never had the time or head-space to get written out. Lastly, there will be a few of our homeschool updates peppered in.
It is my hope that I can do a few things through this process:
- I want to get back into the habit of writing. I find I usually have a lot of words in my head and very rarely get the opportunity to get them all out. I miss writing and sharing what is on my heart and mind. I am looking forward to getting back into the swing of it for the new year.
- Getting back to the roots of why I started a blog in the first place. I wanted to have a place where I could share my life with those that aren’t as close in proximity as they once were. Sometimes it is really hard to share the same story a hundred times. Here I can share it once and anyone who wants to read has the chance. Some of these stories will make you laugh, some will make you cry, and there might be a time or two when you get flat out angry. That’s okay. Let me know in the comments. I love to hear what people think.
- And this brings me to the last thing I hope to do. Continue to develop my community. I truly love it when I get that notification that I have had a comment on a post I made. I am looking forward to using that to begin conversations and continue to grow and develop relationships.
So there you have it. My rhyme and reason behind jumping onto the blogmas train. I hope you enjoy it. Let me know in the comments. And come back tomorrow to see what I have cooked up!
