Goal Setting

February Goals

Where did January go? I did so well with getting things started on track and then….

BAM! We were smacked with more illness.

Can I just say I’m so very tired of illness but during our time at home these last few days I’ve been able to think through the goals I have for the month of February. So here they are:

Household Goals

One thing that HAS to get better is my household management. With me starting school TODAY (EEKKK!!!), RaeLynn being cast in 2 shows happening concurrently, baseball season fast approaching, girl scouts happening, and just daily life it is a must that we get things under control here at home.

Dusty and I made the decision that we are going to be teaching and training the kids not only in how to manage roles and responsibilities but also finances so starting in March the kids well each get paid a weekly commission. To earn this commission they will have daily responsibilities they will have to manage. The goal for February is to get the kids used to the newish chore system, get the house into what I like to call “maintenance mode”, and catch up on the mountains of laundry that need to be done each week. We are a week-ish into this new routine and so far things seem to be going well.

Health and Wellness Goals

I am declaring 2024 as the “Year of Me” (more of that to come in a couple weeks) and that means I’m working on taking care of myself a bit more and not backburnering all my heath and wellness issues and goals. So my biggest goal is to get myself back to a regular tracking routine with Weight Watchers and get back into the gym. I was doing really well with getting there 3 mornings a week before winter hit and it got COLD. I know that shouldn’t be an excuse for not going so I’m going to try and get rid of that thought.

I am also hoping to get back to my meal prepping/planning and being more diligent about my water intake. I LOVE my tea (especially with ALL THE SWEETENER) but I’m going to try to work on limiting that to one cup in the mornings and maybe one before bed depending on the day. The rest of the day needs to be water, water, water. I’m going to try to eliminate sodas all together again.

And lastly, on this one I want to be more diligent about taking my vitamins and supplements. With us being so busy I just can’t afford to be sick anymore and boosting that immune system can only help right!

School: Mine and the Kids

For the kids school my goal is to get us back on track. We had 3 REALLY great weeks and then sickness happened and now we are all out of wack. I am hoping that this week we can work on getting back in order, even though Monday and Tuesday are already kind of a wash.

When it comes to my schooling I am just hoping I can start off strong and get myself into a good solid routine. Luckily the first 4 weeks of the seminar are focused on setting myself up for success and making action plans to manage my time and responsibilities properly. I’m super excited for these skills and techniques to be learned and implemented

My Marriage

Mine and Dusty’s birthdays are both in the month of February but with us being so busy all the time we normally just slip in a quick “Happy Birthday” here and there. This year I want to do more than that so I am working on what that might look like.

Final Thoughts

January was quite a whirlwind of thoughts and emotions. There were a lot of good and exciting things that happened. There were some sad and upsetting things that happened. And there were some surprising and shocking things that took place. But through it all we survived. I’m hoping and praying for February to be a bit more solid. Somewhere on social media I saw a meme that said something about January being a free trial month and that is the way I am looking at things. We navigated all the ins and outs of starting a new year and now we are ready to begin the real thing. So here we go with better goals and plans and a way forward with joy.

See you next week!
