30 Day Blogging Challenge-Day 5: Introducing Enchanted By Grace Designs

One thing that I get really annoyed by is when bloggers that I truly love to follow and read what they have to say discover some “work from home” (read Multilevel Marketing company) opportunity and suddenly all their posts, social media interactions, and messages are focused on that particular type of item, their personal brand, and the continual push for their followers to “join their team”. Don’t get me wrong, I love a good direct sales company, and I shop from many of them but when I started to follow a person for one reason and then suddenly all I get form them is a business pitch I tend to shut down.

That is one of the reasons why I was hesitant to share the small business that I have started her on my blog. It’s not really what I had in mind for being “on brand” with this platform but then again, since I am floundering to figure out what my brand really is I figured now was as good a time as any to share a little hobby I have that I am hoping to make a bit of money from doing.

And no, this isn’t a direct sales or MLM company so you can continue reading without the fear that I’m going to drop a link for you to join my team at the end.

A Little Bit of History

I began learning how to do bead work when I was in high school. One of the things that I have always loved about my family is that we are all creative people. My grandmother painted, made ceramics, knitted, cross-stitched, quilted, cooked, and baked. My mom paints, crochets, cans, preserves food, writes, cooks, and bakes. My siblings and I are all engaged in different types of crafty projects. So when life threw me a curve ball in high school it was my grandmother who gave me a new hobby to try out to help keep myself busy.

And I really did fall in love with it.

But then college happened and it was a past time that I let fall by the wayside. Until after my first baby was born. For some reason it seems that when life shakes things up I turn to doing whatever it is I can to keep my hands busy. Probably so I won’t get into more trouble than I’m already in.

When we moved to Fort Worth I played around with the bead work a very little bit but it wasn’t every anything consistent. I would do a project here or there when I needed to take a brain break from studying, but it wasn’t ever anything really extraordinary.

And then we moved back to New Mexico. It seemed like everyone around me had different projects and activities to keep themselves busy. I found myself wanting to do something that was just my own. Something that I could pour my energies and time (even just the little spare time I had) into. And so I really began to ramp up my beading projects.

At first they were just fun little projects for myself and gifts for friends. Until those friends and my family began encouraging me to attempt to do more with them. More like selling them through craft fairs and a shop page on Facebook. And thus: Enchanted By Grace Designs was born.

Enchanted By Grace Designs

Enchanted by Grace designs is my jewelry company! I make hand crafted seed bead jewelry. Each piece is done with the most love and care I can possibly manage. They are designed not only to compliment any outfit or occasion but also to be durable and long lasting. Here are a few pictures of some of the items I offer:

So there it is. Part of what has been occupying my time instead of trying to figure out what to do with this little corner of the internet.
